Yes. Banitan is built for locals and the diaspora. You can register and manage your account from anywhere in the world.
How long does KYC verification take?
KYC verification is typically completed within 24 hours. You will receive a notification once your account is verified.
Can I have multiple accounts?
Each user is allowed one personal account. However businesses can register separately as employers for payroll purposes.
Are there any deposit fees?
Deposits via MTN MoMo and Orange Money carry a small processing fee of 2%. Bank transfers and cash deposits are free.
How do I withdraw my money?
You can withdraw via MTN MoMo, Orange Money, bank transfer or cash at branch. Withdrawals are processed within minutes to 24 hours depending on the method.
Is there a minimum or maximum deposit amount?
The minimum deposit is XAF 500. Maximum deposit limits vary by method — up to XAF 5,000,000 per transaction.
How long do withdrawals take?
Mobile money withdrawals are instant. Bank transfers take 1-2 business days. Cash at branch is same day.
Can I send money to another Banitan user?
Yes — transfers between Banitan accounts are instant and free.
Is there a transfer limit?
Daily transfer limits apply depending on your account verification level. Verified accounts can transfer up to XAF 10,000,000 per day.
How do I add a beneficiary?
Go to Transfers → Beneficiaries → Add New. You can save multiple beneficiaries for quick future transfers.
What is a Njangi group?
A Njangi is a traditional community savings group where members contribute regularly and take turns receiving the pooled funds. Banitan digitises this process for full transparency and security.
How do I create a Njangi group?
Log in, go to Njangi Groups → Create Group. Set your contribution amount, frequency, number of members and payout method.
What happens if a member misses a contribution?
Missed contributions are recorded automatically. The group admin can review and take action. Suspension of members is a manual admin decision.
Can I be in multiple Njangi groups?
Yes — you can join or create as many Njangi groups as you wish.
How do I apply for a loan?
Go to Loans → Apply. Select your loan type, amount and repayment period. Your application is reviewed within 48 hours.
What types of loans are available?
Banitan offers personal loans, business loans, agricultural loans and education loans with flexible repayment plans.
What is a Fixed Deposit (FDR)?
A Fixed Deposit is a savings account where you lock in a sum for a fixed period and earn competitive interest returns at maturity.
What is a DPS account?
A Deposit Pension Scheme (DPS) is a recurring savings plan where you deposit a fixed amount regularly and earn returns over time.
What are the interest rates?
Interest rates vary by product and are displayed clearly before you apply. There are no hidden charges.
Who can use the payroll feature?
Any registered business or employer on Banitan can use the payroll module after completing employer registration.
Is payroll compliant with Cameroonian labour law?
Yes. Banitan payroll is fully compliant with Cameroonian labour law including CNPS contributions, transport allowances and income tax calculations.
Can I process payroll in bulk?
Yes — you can upload your entire employee list and process all salaries in one click.
Does Banitan generate payslips?
Yes. Payslips are automatically generated for each employee and can be downloaded as PDF.
How does Banitan protect my data?
We use bank-grade encryption, two-factor authentication and strict data protection policies in compliance with applicable privacy laws
What should I do if I suspect fraud on my account?
Contact our support team immediately via the Help section in your dashboard or email support@banitan.com. You can also freeze your account instantly from Security settings.
Does Banitan share my data with third parties?
We never sell your data. We only share data with regulated partners where required by law or to process your transactions.
What happens if I forget my password?
Click "Forgot Password" on the login page and enter your email address. You will receive a reset link within a few minutes.
Can I close my account?
Yes. Contact our support team to initiate account closure. Any remaining balance will be transferred to your designated account.
Can I deposit in a foreign currency?
Yes. Banitan supports multi-currency deposits. Funds are converted to XAF at the prevailing exchange rate at the time of deposit.
Why is my deposit not reflecting?
Mobile money deposits are instant. If your deposit is not showing after 10 minutes, contact support with your transaction reference number.
How long do international transfers take?
International wire transfers typically take 1-3 business days depending on the destination country and receiving bank.
Can I schedule a recurring transfer?
Yes — use the Standing Orders feature to schedule automatic recurring transfers on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
What is the maximum number of members in a Njangi group?
Each Njangi group can have a maximum of 20 members. This ensures manageable contribution cycles and timely payouts for all members.
What payout methods are available for Njangi groups?
Payouts can be made via Banitan account balance, MTN MoMo, Orange Money, bank transfer or cash at branch — depending on the group settings.
Can a Njangi group admin change the contribution amount?
Contribution amounts are set at group creation and cannot be changed mid-cycle. Changes take effect at the start of a new cycle with member agreement.
What happens when all cycles are completed?
When a Njangi group completes all its cycles, the group status is marked as completed. Members can create a new group or join another one.
What documents are needed to apply for a loan?
You need a valid national ID, proof of income or business registration, and your last 3 months of account activity on Banitan.
Can I repay my loan early?
Yes — early loan repayment is allowed with no penalty charges. Contact support or use the loan section in your dashboard.
What happens if I miss a loan repayment?
A late payment fee applies. Repeated missed payments may affect your credit standing and future loan eligibility on the platform.
How do employees access the Banitan employee portal?
Access to the employee portal is by invitation only from your employer. Your employer sends you an invitation directly from their Banitan Employer Dashboard. You will receive an email with a link to set your password and activate your account. Once activated, log in at banitan.com/employee/login using your work email and password.
I have not received my employee portal invitation. What should I do?
Contact your employer or HR department to resend the invitation from their Banitan Employer Dashboard. Also check your spam/junk folder as the invitation email may have been filtered.
Can I access the employee portal without an invitation?
No — the employee portal is invite-only for security reasons. Only employees whose employers are registered on Banitan can access the portal. Contact your employer to get started.
How do employees access their payslips?
Employees can download their payslips by visiting banitan employee portal. Log in with your work email and the password set during onboarding. Go to Payslips to view and download all your payslips as PDF.
How do employees apply for leave?
Log in to the Banitan employee portal. Go to Leave and submit a leave request. Your employer will be notified for approval.
How do employees apply for a salary advance or loan?
Log in to the employee portal, go to Loans & Advances and submit a request. Your employer reviews and approves advances based on company policy.
Can employees view their tax summary?
Yes — log in to the employee portal and go to Tax Summary to view your annual income tax breakdown including CNPS contributions.
What is two-factor authentication and how do I enable it?
Two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security by requiring a verification code in addition to your password. Enable it from Settings → 2FA Security or selecting 2FA Security from the profile dropdown
What should I do if I lose my phone?
Log in from another device immediately and go to Security Settings to change your password and disable your USSD PIN. Contact support to freeze your account if needed.
What are Banitan wallets?
Banitan wallets allow you to hold, send and receive money in multiple currencies from a single account. You can have separate wallets for XAF, EUR, USD, GBP and other supported currencies.
How do I create a foreign currency wallet?
Log in to your dashboard, go to My Wallets → +New Wallet, select your desired currency and confirm. Your new wallet is created instantly.
How do I fund a foreign currency wallet?
You can fund your wallet via international bank transfer, card payment or by converting funds from your main XAF balance at the current exchange rate.
What currencies does Banitan support?
Banitan currently supports XAF, EUR, USD and GBP wallets. Additional currencies will be added as we expand to more COBAC-regulated markets
How do I convert between currencies?
Go to My Wallets → Convert, select the source and destination currency, enter the amount and confirm. Conversion is done at the live interbank rate plus a small spread.
Are there fees for holding foreign currency wallets?
There are no monthly fees for holding a foreign currency wallet. A small conversion fee applies when exchanging between currencies.
Can I send money from my foreign currency wallet?
Yes — you can send directly from any wallet to a beneficiary in the same currency, avoiding conversion costs for international transfers.
